Well, he pitches a decent game giving up 1 run on 5 hits while fanning 10, dropping his ERA for the year to 5.40. Yes, he is a 27, and he’s not supposed to have an ERA that high, but what can you do. Unfortunately the Lynx can only get him 1 run, so he ends up with a no decision. YSS gets 3 straigh 1bs in the T3 by Heyward, Solano, and d’Arnaud for thier 1st run. Owings ties it up for the SBL with a solo-HR in the B5. YSS gets the game winner in the T8 on a Heyward solo-HR. HR: DET- none; FRE- Kyle Higashioka (5)

Game #2: Both starters begin well, but Detroit starter Carlos Carrasco walks two straight to load the bases in the 3rd. Teoscar Hernandez and James McCann singled in three runs. Fremont tried for a fourth on a Byron Buxton fly out, but Hernandez is thrown out at the plate by Kyle Schwarber.

Detroit gets right back in it with a four-run 4th inning, led by Brandon Belt’s two-run double off the wall. Fremont quickly ties it at 4-4 in the bottom of the 4th with a Travis Shaw solo homer.

Fremont starter Dylan Bundy leaves after 5.2 innings with an arm injury and will be out 12 days, which is a blow to Fremont’s stretch run.

In the bottom of the seventh, Carlos Carrasco gives up a leadoff infield single, and departs in favor of Aaron Loup. Loup is able to get two outs, but Teoscar Hernandez hits a two-run homer to give Fremont the 6-4 lead.

Fremont goes into the ninth with Tanner Scott on the mound. Brandon belt hits a leadoff single. After a Cesar Hernandez fly out, a throwing error by Yoan Moncada puts runners on second and third. Cameron Maybin has a chance to tie or win in, but his blooper is caught spectacularly by Javier Baez, and a flip to second completes the double play and the win. Fremont wins 6-4!

Series Summary: Fremont wins both games to pull within two of Detroit.
