Tijuana Bottle Rockets @ Chicago Mobsters

Series Preview: One from near the top and one from the bottom in the 14 team American League meet up in the Windy City of Chicago for a 3 game set.
Game #1: Tanner Roark is “Real & Spectacular” in this one. 7 Innings, 3 Hits, 1 Walk & Zero (0) Earned Runs. In the 5th the Bottle Rockets get Home Runs from Gary Sanchez & Josh Vanmeter in the 8th & 9th spots in the lineup. Chicago scratches across 1 lone Un-Earned Run in the bottom of the 5th & that’s all she wrote for scoring in this one. Some of the nice high-grade arms that Tijuana throws in the 8th & 9th shutdown the Mobsters. The Bottle Rockets steal Game #1 in Chicago.

Final Score: Tijuana 2 – Chicago 1

Win: Tanner Roark 3-2 (4.19)
Loss: Carlos Matias Martinez 0-1 (2.13)
Save: Jarlin Garcia #1

Game #2: Another 2 Home Runs for Tijuana & a solid pitching effort from former Mobsters Framber Valdez helps Tijuana take the second game in a row from Chicago. Jake Diekman & Jarlin Garcia are bullpen monsters as they face 3 Chicago batters each and get 6 outs.

Final Score: Tijuana 4 – Chicago 3

Win: Framber Valdez 2-2 (3.09)
Loss: Lance McCullers 2-2 (3.86)
Save: Jarlin Garcia #2

Game #3: After losing 2 in a row to the bottom-feeding Bottle Rockets, Chicago still rests Bregman & some other regulars but yet puts out their best lineup in this 3-Game series. But this one was the “MIGGY” Show. He looked like his old self (Which he has yet to do this year). 2 for 4 with 2 long bombs resulting in 4 RBI’s. Jesus Luzardo is solid for 7 Innings allowing only 1 Earned Run.

Final Score: Chicago 10 – Tijuana 1

Win: Jesus Luzardo 4-1 (1.72)
Loss: Nick Margevicius 1-5 (8.04)

Series Summary: Chicago gets humiliated as they drop 2 of 3 to the bottom of the barrel Bottle Rockets. Chicago looks to rebound next week vs. the Werewolves of Hollywood, while the Tijuana team heads down south Mexico way to host the Skyliners from Cincinnati.

Pittsburgh Lumber Company @ Jersey Nor’easters

Series Preview: Jersey looking to stay hot taking on the Pittsburg Lumber Company.
Game #1: A wild one that went 10 innings before Jersey scratched one across in the 10th to win 8-7.
Game #2: Another close one with Jersey again on top 3-2.
Game #3: In a matchup of two of the top pitchers in the league Ryu 1.50 era vs Lamet 1.62 era it’s Jersey’s Lamet coming out on top 2-0.
Series Summary: Jersey sweeps this 3 game series raising their record to 19-12 and remaining a contender for a wild card slot.

Mesa Solar Sox @ Virginia Sluggers

Series Preview: Two middle of the pack teams get together.
Game #1: VIR 8-7 W-K.Finnegan (2-0) L-B.Graterol (0-1)

A great comeback win for VIR as Mesa jumps out to a 7-0 lead only to see the Sluggers blast 6 home runs to give them the win. R.Devers and A.Rizzo hit 2 homers each, with Rizzo’s second one being good for the walk off win.

Game #2: MSS 3-1 W-C.Javier (4-0) L-M.Baez (0-3) SV-M.Fostar (2)

Javier’s 3-hitter held VIR scoreless for 8.2 innings until C.Frazier homered. Javier was stellar as he got his 4th win. S.Marte had 2 hits in 5 AB’s to drive in 2 runs for the Solar Sox.

Game #3: MSS 15-1 W-J.Dunn (4-1) L-T.Williams (0-2)

An embarrassment for VIR. Dunn pitched a 1-hitter (Biggio’s homer spoiled the no-hitter and shut-out) and Mesa torched the VIR pitchers for 20 hits and 15 runs. Among the hits were 6 longballs, 2 by A.Duvall, who was 4-6 with 7 RBI.

Series Summary: Mesa easily took the series 2-1 and probably should have won the one game they lost. Virginia is definitely beginning to suffer from it’s weak pitching staff. It was fun while it lasted.

Detroit Crime @ Coconut Creek Crushers

Series Preview: Can CCC keep from getting blown out by DET?
Game #1: Harper and Voit back Minor with HR’s in an easy 9-2 DET win.
Game #2: Nola and Loup combine on a No-hitter for DET in a 4-0 win.
Game #3: Snell goes 8 IP giving up 2 hits while striking out 15. CCC wins the finale 7-0.
Series Summary: CCC managed to not get swept.

Series Summary: Fremont takes two out of three, as Brett Anderson steals a win for the Skyliners in game three.

W Tomlin 3-1 3.47 era

Series Preview: Valdosta’s young sluggers visit Tempe for a three game series.
Game #1: Nice start by Zimmer for Valodsta, but Minter allowed Tempe to tie it at 5-5 in the bottom of the 9th. Snappers loaded the bases in the 11th with no out. but couldn’t score a single run. Tempe loaded the bases in the 14th and with two outs little used Panik slapped a pinch hit to win it for Tempe. Cueto was Tempe’s 12th pitcher in the game and pitched the final two innings for the win.
Tempe 6-5 (14inn)
W – Cueto – 1-0
L – Guerra 0-2
Game #2: McBroom’s two rbi double off Hahn put the Snappers ahead in the 7th 5-4. However a Rendon two run homer in the bottom of the 7th gave Tempe the lead and a another 6-5 win.
Tempe 6-5
W – Hahn 1-0
L – Valdez 0-3
SV – O’Day 2nd
Game #3: Two run homer by J.D. Martinez in the 8th finally gave Tempe’s pen some breathing room.
W – Bass – 3-0
L – Ponce de Leon – 2-1
SV -Hahn 7th
Series Summary: Valdosta was close in every game and could have taken the series if their pen had just been able to the shut the door in games one and two.

LP: de Grom (CG)
SV: B. Martin
HR: YSS–Zunino, A. Frazier; MCM–Trout, M. Franco

Jacob de Grom struck out 15, but couldn’t overcome the longball. Mike Zunino’s three-run blast was the difference.

Game #2: YSS 11 – MCM 2

WP: T. Walker
LP: Z. Davies
HR: YSS–d’Arnaud (2), T. Turner, Solano; MCM–Trout

Once again, YSS uses the homerun to take care of business. Travis d’Arnaud hit two, on a 3-5, four RBI, three-run, three-hit day. Trea Turner added three RBI, two runs, and a homer of his own.

HOL 11, SBL 2

Game #2: Only close game of the series as Southbend plays Hollywood tough but ends up 1 run short. SBL Canha has rbi-2b in B1 to open scoring. HOL Olson gets them the lead in the T4 with a 2-run HR. SBL Muncy promptly ties it at 2-2 with a solo-HR in the B4. In the HOL T5 Knizner 1bs, Yelich bbs, and Goldschmidt has the eventual game winning rbi-1b. HOL Kershaw earns the win as he goes 8IP giving up only 4 hits while fanning 5. Kintzler comes on for the 1-2-3 out save.

HOL 3, SBL 2

Game #3: Another blowout for Hollywood as they open the scoring with a Grandslam by Chapman in the T2. Goldschmidt adds a solo-HR and the rest of the scoring comes from a balanced HOL attack. D.May is dominant for Hollywood giving up only 2 hits, 0 runs, in 7IP with 8 Ks. The lone blemish for HOL is when Bichette spoils the shutout with a 2-run HR in the B9 for Southbend. Bichette continues to have a stellar season for the Lynx going 2-3 w/2 rbi and raising his season average to .463.

HOL 8, SBL 2
