Game #1:  Andrew McCutchen goes 2 for 4 with a Home Run & 3 RBI’s. Solo Home Runs from newly acquired Ian Kinsler & Buster Posey give Chicago all they need.

Game #2:  Chicago ties it at 3-3 in the top of the 9th with 2 runs off Crime closer Zach Britton. They play 3 more frames before Chicago puts up a 4 spot in the 12th. Detroit didn’t score after the 3rd inning of this contest. Josh Donaldson & J.D. Martinez both have Home Runs & 2 RBI’s for Chicago. Adam Jones Homers & has 2 RBI’s for Detroit.

Game #4:  Chicago came back with vengeance in this one. 17 Runs, 17 Hits, 5 Home Runs & this was total domination by the Mobsters. David Ortiz, Josh Donaldson & Nelson Cruz all had 4 RBI games.Buster Posey & Dexter Fowler chipped in with 2 RBI’s each as well. A solo Home Run by Adam Jones out Detroit on the board in the 8th. allowed only 2 hits for Chicago in the complete game win.

Game #5:  This one was much closer than the last, as the score was tied at 2 apiece after 6 & headed into the 9th still tied. Detroit brought in Zach Britton who let up a 2 Run Home Run to Justin Turner. Chicago close the door with Aroldis Chapman in the bottom of the 9th to secure the victory for the Mobsters.

Game #6:  Alexander Reyes was solid for 6.1 Innings, allowing only 2 Runs (1 Earned) while Striking OUt 10. Ian Kinsler was the hitting star going 4 for 5 with 3 Doubles, a Home Run & 4 RBI’s (10 Total Bases).

Final Score: Chicago 10 – Detroit 3

Series Summary:  Chicago showed why they are up top in the Division, but Detroit is a great team and should not be overlooked as they head into the Wild Card Round as the #1 Seed in the American League.

Grand Haven  Gators @ Bethesda  Bandicoots

Series Preview: Bethesda hosts Grand Haven in its final homestand of the season. 
Game #1:  Eflin (0-6) vs Ross (1-0)
Tyson Ross got the nod to start for Bethesda in an emergency with John Lackey on the DL and came through with flying colors. The Rangers’ rehabbing righty threw seven shutout innings of two-hit ball as Bethesda opened the homestand with a 5-0 win over Grand Haven.
Marcel Ozuna got a pair of hits for the Gators in support of Zach Eflin who threw a solid six innings allowing just two earned runs on seven hits. 
Bethesda did most of its damage in the final innings scoring twice in each of the 7th and 8th innings. Tyler Naquin had three hits for Bethesda.

Grand Haven gets another solid start this time out of Anthony Ranaudo, but once again the Bandicoots are able to score in the 7th and 8th innings to capture a 4-2 win.
Juan Centeno had a couple of hits including his first homer to lead Grand Haven’s offense. Ranaudo supplied decent pitching with two earned runs allowed in 6.2 innings. He struck out seven and walked two. 
Anthony Rendon bashed two solo homeruns for Bethesda.

Game #3:  Duffey (12-12) vs. Hill (12-0)
Rich Hill stays perfect on the season striking out nine over eight shutout innings as Bethesda wins 5-0. 
In the process, my profuse apologies, CJ Cron got beaned and knocked out of action for a week. 
David Peralta drove in a couple of runs on a couple of hits including a home run for Bethesda.

Game #4:  Marquez vs Fister
David Peralta homers for the second straight game – this time with two out in the bottom of the 9th with the game tied to give Bethesda a 6-5 walkoff win. 
Grand Haven trailed 5-3 heading into the 8th but Brandon Morrow’s arrow straight fastball was deposited into the left field bleachers by Freddy Galvis with Hernan Perez on 1st base to tie it up.

Game #5:  Finnegan vs Arrieta
Brad Miller spoiled a great comeback by the Grand Haven Gators by homering in the bottom of the 12th to lift the Bandicoots to an 8-7 win.
Down 6-2 heading into the 8th, the Gators hammered resident douchebag Ryan Madson for three runs on two homers in the inning (including Freddy Galvis’ 2nd of the game) and then tied it in the 9th on a homer by Marcel Ozuna off Steve Cishek who was looking to convert his 14th straight save.
The Gators then went ahead 7-6 with Difo again playing hero when he doubled off the wall in right to score Alexi Amarista from 1st.
Miller and Lorenzo Cain each had three hits for Bethesda with Miller driving in four runs.

Game #6:  Eflin vs Gray
Zach Eflin was decent and Sonny Gray was not.
The Gators ripped the new Yankee a new one scoring five times on 10 hits in just four innings in a 6-3 win to spoil the sweep of the series. 
Alexi Amarista had three hits for the winners scoring once and driving one in. 
Eflin won for the first time this season and finished eight innings with onlu five hits allowed. He walked five and fanned four.

Series Summary:  In a battle of cellar dwellers, Jersey takes the series 5-1.

Fremont  Cannons @Virginia  Sluggers

Series Preview:  Fremont and Virginia take time from researching future draft picks to play one of their last series of the season.
Game #1:  VIR 2-0
All Daniel Wright as he throws a CG 5-hitter for his 9th win against 12 losses. Nick Markakis provides the offense with a 7th inning, 2-run single.
Game #2:  FRE 3-2
Cannons’ only needed 4 hits to win this one. Javier Baez led off the game with a homer, Carlos Correa followed with a single, stole 2nd and came in on Kennys Vargas’ double for a quick 2-0 lead. Until the 9th, Fremont was hitless. VIR came back to tie the game in the 5th, but Kennys Vargas blasted a solo shot in the 9th to pull out the win for Fremont.
Game #3:  FRE 4-3
Carlos Correa and Maikel Franco homered for Fremont’s first two runs, but were down 3-2 until the 8th when Tommy Joseph laced a 2-run double to give the Cannons the lead and eventually the win.
Game #4:  VIR 5-4
Jackie Bradley Jr.’s 8th inning 26th homer gave Virginia the win as Chris Archer k’d 12 in his 8.1innings and took home the win.
Game #5: VIR 9-8
The Cannons’ Kris Davis smacked his 39th homer of the season and drove in 4 runs, Javier Baez had 3 hits, Carlos Correa 2 and Kennys Vargas 2 with 2 RBI. BUT, it was light hitting Paul Janish who gave the Sluggers the win with a walkoff single in the 9th. 
Game #6:  VIR 4-2
This time, VIR jumped out to a quick lead on Anthony Rizzo’s 2-run homer and then held on as the bullpen did it’s job.
Series Summary: 4 games decided by 1 run, 2 games by 2 runs. A close series won by VIR 4 games to 2. 

Tempe  Tempers @ Valdosta  Snappers

Series Preview:  Valdosta plays host to 1st place Tempe.
Game #1:  Tempe 14-3. Tempers rap out 17 hits as they win a laugher. Jason Hammel improved to 13-9.
Game #2:  Tempe 9-2. Jon Lester improved to 21-5 and was backed by 5 HR’s from the Tempers offense.
Game #3:  Valdosta 4-1. Julio Teheran continues his fine season for a crappy team as he lowered his ERA to 2.01 and improved to 16-8.
Game #4:  Tempe 10-0. Hisashi Iwakuma improved to 7-0 and the Tempers hit 5 more HR’s enroute to another easy win.
Game #5:  Tempe 12-6. Tempers only hit 2 HR’s but get another easy win. Matt Wisler dropped to5-18 on the year.
Game #6:  Tempe 7-3. Four HBP’s, 2 injuries and 2 ejections made for an interesting ballgame. Lester had a no-hitter through 4 2/3 when he was ejected. Miguel Sano did hit his 17th HR for the good guys.
Series Summary: Tempe pummels the Snappers, winning 5 of 6 and smacking a ridiculous 18 HR’s. 

Triple Creek  Patriots @ Sacramento  Capitals

Series Summary:  Sacramento takes 5 of 6 from Triple Creek.

Motor  City Muscle @ Dallas  Cougars

Series Summary:  The Muscle came from behind in the first three games of the series and Dallas wins the last two games at home in the 2017 season to avoid losing their 100th game at home. Daniel Norris in his final appearance of the season was brilliant in the finale pitching a complete game victory allowing only 4 hits while striking out 9.

Motor City takes the series 4 games to 2

Manhattan  Project @ Coconut Creek  Crushers

Series Preview:  Playing out the String
Game #1:  MAN hits Freddie Freeman lead off and it pays off. He hits a 1B, 2B and HR. He has 3 RBI and scores 4 runs in an 11-4 rout.
Game #2:  Karns, Cingrani and Iglesias combine to allow only one unearned run in a 2-1 CCC win. A Duvall HR is all the offense CCC needed.
Game #3: MAN starter Tanaka only allows 2 hits in the game. One is a solo HR to Adam Duvall.
The other is a 2-run HR to Adam Duvall. That is enough as CCC wins 3-2. 
Game #4:  Wil Myers hits a 9th inning HR to send it to extra innings. CCC wins in the 14th on a walk off walk. 4-3.
Game #5:  Musgrove is strong for CCC and Duvall again provides the offense with a 3-run HR.
CCC wins 8-2.
Game #6:  Butt Hole Park gets a spot start at 1B and goes off. 4 for 4 with a 1B, two 2b’s,a HR and 6 RBI in a CCC 9-3 win.
Series Summary:  CCC brings a hot stick to this series and pokes Manhattan in the eye with it.

Pittsburgh  Lumber Company @ Corktown  Cycle

Series Preview:  Every game counts for the Lumber Company heading down the stretch. Corktown is already in offseason mode.
Game #1:  A grand total of 40 players made an appearance in this game. It took 11 for Pittsburgh to secure the victory. Matt Kemp homered twice and Starling Marte had a grand slam.

Game #6:  It took 12 innings for a player to cross home plate. Josh Rutledge came in to pinch run, but later drove in the only two runs in the game. Michael Wacha gave it everything pitching 9 shut out innings with 5 K’s. Colin Rea was just as electric for the Cycle throwing 9 two hit innings with 6 K’s.

Series Summary:  Southwest wins 3 out of the 1st 4 games, but Southbend rallies to win the last 2 games and a series 3-3 split.

Series Summary:  Long Beach takes four of six from Windy City.

Tijuana  Bottle Rockets @ Yonge Street  Stalkers

Series Preview:  TIJ is wildcard hunting, YSS is hunting for answers.
Game #1:  Steven Wright moved to 17-0. Kluber worked 2 innings for the save. Daniel Murphy swatted a couple homers. Schebler injured 11 days. TIJ 5 – YSS 1
Game #2:  It was an Edwin Encarnacion show. He swatted 2 homers (40,41) and plated 5 (102). He added 2 GIDP to his seemingly high (no research claimed) season total of 30. TIJ 9 – YSS 2
Game #3:  Tanner Roark mowed through the Stalkers pretty easily. Mike Zunino had a solo shot for the home squad. TIJ 8 – YSS 1
Game #4:  The home team opened up a can. Joc Pederson and Scooter Gennett both doubled and homered. Pederson drove home a pair while Gennett plated 7. YSS 11 – TIJ 5
Game #5:  Daniel Murphy again led the charge. A double, a homer, and 3 more RBI. TIJ 6 – YSS 3
Game #6:  Of course this game happened. Shelby Miller went 8 shutout innings, allowing just 1H. Game 1 starter and previously undefeated Steven Wright (17-1) went 7 innings allowed 2H, and 1 unearned run via the sac fly. YSS 1 – TIJ 0
Series Summary:  TIJ took 4 of 6 and will travel to Southbend next week. YSS stays home to welcome CCC.

Hollywood  Werewolves @ Mesa  Solar Sox

Series Preview:  1st place Hollywood comes to second place Mesa, although Mesa is far, far behind…
Series Summary:  Hollywood puts a good old fashioned whoopin’ on Mesa, taking all 6. They outscored them 44-20, outhit them 71-46 and Mesa never had a lead in the series. Whew!!

Selkirk  Steelers @ Columbus  Explorers

Series Preview:  Selkirk comes to Columbus – hopes? Spoil the wild card bid. Columbus hopes? Move closer to the wild card.
Game #1:  Wade LeBlanc goes 5 innings – NO HITS, 1 walk. Leaves with the score 1-0, teammates keep his lead including a Matt W. Reynolds 2 run homer (3). Jurickson Profor homers (17) for Selkirk
