Aaron Sanchez (7-3 3.84) picks up the win. Chapman with Save #41 on the season. Newly acquired Josh Donaldson has 2 RBI’s, & so does Teixeria & Curt Casali.

Game #5:
Felix Hernandez (22-4 1.95) is solid for 7.1 Innings allowing only 1 Earned Run (Solo shot to Kole Calhoun in the 5th). Chapman comes in to close the door for Save #42.

Game #6:
Gerritt Cole (10-7 2.20) gets the win for Yonge Street. However the real story was that 1-0 win, despite being No-Hit by the Mobsters trio of Carlos Martinez, Carter Capps & Andrew Miller. Those 3 pitchers combined to go 9 Innings, with No-Hits, but gave up a lone
run & lost.
Final Score: Yonge Street 1 – Chicago 0
Series Summary
Chicago takes the series 5 games to 1 & hopefully can move closer to Detroit who takes on Hollywood this week.

 

Corktown  Cycle @ Clovis  Wheat Kings
Series Preview
Corktown Cycle bringing up the rear in the East travel out west to face Clovis who is trying to nail down the last playoff spot.
Game #1:

Clovis gets big flies from Phillips (lead off shot) and Byrd to back Harvey. Cruz injured for five games which will keep him out of the rest of the series.
Game #2:
Corktown 3 Clovis 1 16 inning marathon.
Cycle break through in the 16th with a Jeff Baker RBI and Chirinos follows it up with a double that brings home another to make a winner of Corktown in a bullpen burner.

Clovis 8 Corktown 2
Davis and Phillips both go deep and both drive home three from the first two spots in the lineup to back Liriano who cruises to the win.

Samardzjia is brilliant with a complete game 4 hit shutout that featured 6 Ks and 0 walks. Arenado homered in the 7th for the only runs of the game. Everyone’s favorite DC neighborhood, Adam(s) Morgan, took the tough luck loss.

Clovis 4 Corktown 3 (11 innings)
Brayan Pena came off the bench to deliver the game winning base hit that scored Castro to make a winner of the Wheat Kings.

Taylor (Henny) Jungmann stretches out his arm for the Wheat Kings second complete game shutout of the series. Jungmann went the distance giving up only 2 base hits while striking out 9.
Series Summary
Clovis takes 5 of 6 from Corktown. Next week sees Corktown hosting Valdosta while Clovis travels to Jerseyfor a couple of six game sets.

Lance Lynn vs Graveman and both starters allow just 2 runs. It was up to the bullpen as the game was tied at the end of regulation. Reed on for the Patriots again late and he blows it again. The Capitals totaled 12 hits but just didn’t get many with RISP.

Capitals starter Salazar was touched up for 5 runs over 6 innings while Buchholz allowed 5 over 8 innings. Triple Creek leading 6-4 to start the 9th and the bullpen implodes again. Sacaramento scores 2 in the 9th to send it to extra innings and then plate 4 in the 10th to put it away. Pujols and Wong send out souvenirs as the Capitals tally 8 XB hits.

Last place Selkirk vs first place Bethesda.

Bethesda wins 9-6. Arod 3 hits and homer. Ugly injury as three players went down on one play for Bethesda
Game #2:
Gray was wonderful pitchign a 4 hitter and winning 4-0. Arod again hit a homer and 2 rbis for Bethesda in the win.
Game #3:
Selkirk ace Gibson was solid as he wins his 13th,6-4 Selkirk
Game #4:
Young was goof for Bethesda winning 1-0 Axford got his 9th save, Beth 1 Sel 0
Game #5:
Five Bethesda homers winning 15-4 Arrietta got the win but he wasn’t great.
Game #6:
Cain hits 2 homers and Ross allows just 1 hit in the 8-0 Beth blowout.
Series Summary
Beth wins 5 games to 1 as once would expect in this match up.

He lets one go … and it’s pulled hard to right … it’s deep enough if it’s fair … hooking … fair ball! … home run for HOWARD SOLAR SOX 5, COUGARS 4 So HOWARD has his 23rd homer … he’s now homered in 2 straight games and the SOLAR SOX break the tie and now lead 5-4 … 8th inning … 52 ribbies now for HOWARD.

Wanting to conserve the bullpen Guthrie stays in for the 9th and gives up three more runs. One of the runs was a solo HR by Kiermaier
