Hollywood  Werewolves @ Southwest Detroit  Fighting Chihuahuas
Series Summary
Hollywood takes 4 out of 6 at Southwest Detroit.

Tempe  Tempers @ Columbus  Explorers
Series Preview
NL Central tilt as the Columbus Explorers come home for their season Home Opener. They are riding high with a league best 12-1 record. The fans want to see if they are real. And of course, they get to host the defending MWBL champions and the power of the perennial power of the NL CENTRAL – Tempe Tempers. Tempers are off to an 8-5 start, but are looking up. They are hoping to rectify the state of affairs in the NL Central – the Explorers are just hoping to  how up against a team for which they have a very poor record.
Game #1:
Iwakuma vs. McCullers in the opener and the Tempers get on the board first with a CarGo solo shot (5) in the 4th. Explorers tie it in the 6th on a one out Gordon single followed by a Revere double plating Gordon. Game proceeds to the bottom of the 9th still 1-1 when Carpenter hits a 1 out solo HR (5) to get the home town victory.
TEM 1-4-0 – LP Howell (0-3)
COL 2-6-1  – WP Rodriguez (1-0)
Game #2: Tempe looking to even things up goes up 1-0 in the first (W.Chen vs. Dickey). Davis, single, Bogaerts double and Votto SF was how it started. Explorers knot it in the 2nd but Tempe runs their total to 3 runs. Davis gets a 1 out single, Bogaerts reaches on Holt error (E4) and with 2 outs Cespedes bloops one to RF that plates both runners, 3-1. But hold on – in the 6th. Holt singles and with 2 outs Carpenter hits double scoring Holt. Nunez then knocks one off the wall for a 2nd run. Romine the gets into the act singling home Nunez to give Columbus the 4-3 lead. But … the Explorers don’t have a great bullpen ,,, and Tempe got  some stuff. 6 more runs of stuff including a Longoria HR (2) and a Votto bases clearing triple (4 rbis in the game). Tempe walks away a big winner – the 5 run 9th was so much cake.
TEM 9-10-0 – WP Socolovich (1-0)
COL 4-8-1 – LP Hardy (1-1)
Game #3:
Anderson vs. Tomlin – Tempe wanted to make a statement to Tomlin as in the first Votto (1) and Cespedes (4) hit back to back jacks. Explores got one back in the 4th – but one of their base knocks was off Anderson’s leg. He left the game after 3.2 innings and will be out for 14 days. Thornton came in and shut down Columbus to end the 4th, and did it again in the 5th, but he stayed for the 6th. Not a good move as Columbus – and Dee Gordon (4 for 4) got three more including 2 driven in by Gordon. Abad and Rodgriquez make the 4-2 lead stand up.
TEM 2-6-1 – LP Thornton (0-1)
COL 4-11-1 – WP Tomlin (2-0) S Rodriguez (5)
Game #4:

Santiago vs. Santana – well Columbus wins the tight add games, and Tempe wins the even Blow Outs. Santana was fine until he faced one two many in the 6th. Columbus up 2-1 in the 6th. Davis leads off and walks. With 1 out Votto gets beaned. Cespedes walks – bases loaded on no hits. Hardy comes in to face CarGo – WALK! Cano up and grounds out, run scores. Tempe now in the lead. Longoria – HR (3) and 3 more score for a 6-2 lead. OK, but the time the home runs stopped – Cano 2 (2,3), Votto (2), Davis (7) it was 14-5 (Desmond [1]) homered for the good guys. Cano ended up with 7 rbis (grand slam in the 9th!). Offensive onslaught!
TEM 14-15-0 – WP Socolovich (2-0)
COL 5-9 0  – LP Santana (0-1)

Game #5: Iwakuma vs. Happ – Happ working on a no-hit streak gives up one in the 1st. But he’s also working on a scoreless streak and he adds 7.2 more innings to it before he leaves. That gives him a string of 26.2 scoreless innings. Tempe fails to score in the game and that’s the 3rd straight start he’s had were the opponents failed to score! Meanwhile he gets 6 runs of offense, 3 in the 1st and 3 in the 3rd. Blackmon cracks a 2 run homer (1), Carpenter drives in 2. But Carpenter ends up the only downside for Columbus as he suffers an injury that sidelines him for the rest of the series. Votto had 2 for the 4 Tempe hits.
TEM 0-4-1 – LP Iwakuma (0-1)
COL 6-12-0 – WP Happ (4-0)
Game #6:
W.Chen vs. McCullers – this game featured 6 hits in total. 2 for Tempe and 4 for Columbus. McCullers goes 9 innings, 2 hits, 4 walks and 5 Ks (and no decision). Chen goes 9.2 innings, 4 hits, 6 ks and 1 run. Scoreless through 9, the Explorers get a two out double from Cuddyer (former Temper no less). Oscar Hernandez is up against Chen and it’s a wild pitch. Then Hernandez (not know for his bat or much else) singles to score Cuddyer and the game is over. 2 walk-off win for Columbus in the series.
TEM 0-2-0 – LP W.Chen (1-2)
COL 1-4-0 – WP Rodriguez (2-0)
Game #7:
Weber vs. Dickey – series finale, Tempers off two straight shutout losses and seeking revenge. They don’t get it, what they get is Blackmon 2 run homer (2) in a 3 run 4th for the Explorers – and then Dickey blanks them on 4 hits and 8 Ks. CarGo got 3 of those hits – but no help.
TEM 0-5-0 – LP Weber (0-1)
COL 3-6-1 – WP Dickey (2-1)
Series Summary
Fans in Columbus are stunned (happily stunned, but stunned none the less). After a 12-1 start on the road, they are thrilled with a 5-2 series win at home – against TEMPE! Tempers were flaring in the Tempe clubhouse after the game as they were preparing to return home. 10-10 after 20 was not there plan to start – but the are 142 games left. Meanwhile the Explorers hope the smoke and mirrors continue, they’ve packed their bags (again) to go on the road to Triple Creek next week.

Long Beach  Dirt Bags @ Clovis  Wheat Kings
Game #1:
Gonzalez vs Ventura.
Clovis jumps out early with big flies from Cruz twice and Crawford but Dirt Bags nibble away until a three spot ties it up after 5. LB takes a lead into the ninth but the Grandy man comes through for Wheat Kings to tie it int he bottom of the ninth. Stayed that way through both bullpens until the 12th when Phillips singled in Fuld to end it with a 7-6 Clovis win.
Game #2:
Harvey vs. Jimenez
Another pair of home runs off the bat of Nelson Cruz powers Clovis as Harvey cruises through 7 giving up only a home run to Martinez. Watson and Ziegler closed out the 4-1 Clovis win.
Game #3:
Jungmann vs. Lester.
Obviously the Clovis decision to move the fences in has worked out well for the Wheat Kings. Officially listed at 315 feet some observers with a sharp eye and a laser distance measuring tape are saying it is closer to 305, normally not even a warning track fly. Wheat Kings Cruz, Arenado, Crawford, and Arenado again all lined up on the short fence off of Lester but Span hit a two run shot for Long Beach to tie it up. The difference was a Brayan Pena single that scored the Byrdman in the seventh. Wheat King bullpen shut down the Dirt Bags after that for the Clovis 5-4 win.
Game #4:
Liriano vs. Fiers. All Liriano has he scorches the Dirt Bags with an electric fastball that enabled him to rack up 14 strikeouts in the complete game 3-0 shutout. All of the Clovis runs came off of homers from Granderson and Byrd twice.
Game #5:
Samardzjia vs. Haren
A great pitchers duel where Haren and Melancon bested Samardzjia 3-0. Dirt Bags broke a 0-0 tie in the 8th on an error by Samardzjia and then added two more in the ninth with a two run Gennett home run for the final runs in the Long Beach 3-0 win.
Game #6:
Gonzalez vs Ventura
Rematch of game one, this time Crawford provided most of the power for Clovis with a solo shot and a three run Baltimore special. Byrd also chipped in for one. On the mound Gonzo was superb with a complete game shutout with 10 punch outs.
Clovis 5 Long Beach 0
Game #7:
Richards vs. Jimenez
Granderson lines up on the short porch and comes up a winner three times for his third, fourth, and fifth homers of the season. Arenado and Crawford both add another to their growing total, 8 and 7 respectively, on the young season. On the mound Clovis got another great performance as Richards delivered a complete game 3 hit shutout for the easy Clovis 8-0 win.
Series Summary
Clovis beats up on Dirt Bag hurlers taking the series 6 games to 1. Clovis sluggers pounded out 20 home runs over the 7 games. Wheat King hurlers were no slouches either with 3 shutouts including Liriano’s 14 strikeout 3 hit complete game gem. Haren and Melancon deserve credit for Long Beach as the only hurlers to turn the tables with a 3-0 combined shutout of their own to keep Clovis from the sweep.

New York  Outlaws @ Sacramento  Capitals

NL East and NL West leaders face off for a 6-game set.
Series Summary
Sacramento takes 4 of 6 from New York behind solid pitching. The margin of victory was slim in each game–3 runs at the most, with 3 1-run games. The series could have gone either way.

Jersey  Nor’easters @ Triple Creek  Patriots
Series Preview
Nor’esters (3-10) breeze into Patriot (4-9) territory for Triple Creek’s opening home stand.
Game #1:

Kendricks (1-1) vs. Masterson (0-0)

Hendricks allowed 3 early but then settled down to scatter just 6 hits over 6 innings for the W. Hendriks collected his 3rd save and Jersey sprayed 14 hits. The home crowd was happy to see long awaited prospect Corey Seager get his 1st start in The Bigs even though he went 0-4. Brantley was lost for 8 games due to a Velasquez fastball off his leg in the 9th.

JNE 8 TCP 4

Game #2: Perez (0-1) vs. Frias (0-0)

Jersey scored 2 in the top of the 1st but it’s wasn’t enough to have a lead going into the 2nd as Triple Creek scored 3 with the help of a fly ball off Coghlan’s noggin. Coghlan was removed as a precautionary measure and will miss a couple games. Frias’ 1st start of the year was solid as he allowed just 5 hits and 2 runs over 6 innings. Leading 6-2 going into the 7th, Montas entered the game for The Patriots and quickly allowed 4 runs on a couple XB hits and the game  was quickly 6-6. Boxberger entered a now tight game, and left a fastball belt high to Piscotty, who hit it down the line in right and into the cheap seats for the  eventual game winner. Faulkner collected his 1st big league save for the Patriots and Montas his 1st win.

JNE 6 TCP 7

Game #3:

Montgomery (0-1) vs. Wood (1-0)

Montgomery dominated with 8 innings of 1 run ball and Hendrik’s picked up save #4. Jersey’s Murphy and Montero both homered and accounted for all 5 Nor’easter runs.

JNE 5 TCP 1

Game #4:

Heston (1-0) vs Graveman (0-1)

Graveman spun a nice game allowing just 1 over 7 innings but the bullpen failed in getting him his 1st win. Jersey scored 1 in each of the 8th, 9th and 10th innings to pull out a come from behind victory. Ceciliani scored the game winner off a seeing-eye single up the middle from Hernandez. Addison Reed received the Millstone award for Triple Creek.

JNE 4 TCP 3

Game #5:

Qunitana (0-2) vs Gausman (0-1)

Gausman evened his record to 1-1 going 7.1 innings of 2-run ball while whiffing 11. Williamson drove in 2 and continued to impress the brass; as he raised his average to .318 in this early going.

JNE 2 TCP 4

Game #6: Lincecum (0-2) vs Masterson (0-1)

Triple Creek leads after 5 innings 4-1 as both starters are pulled. Montas once again is rocked as he allows 3 runs in his 1 inning of work; and the game is tied 4-4 at the end of 6. Velasquez takes the hill in the bottom of the 9th of a 4-4 game. Chisenhall drops a single into the gap to get things started. Headley then flies out to bring up Lobaton; who has been finding ways to be a hero this year. Lobaton got one he liked and drilled a laser over Hernandez putting Chisenhall on second. Switch hitting Sardinas steps in and hit an easy come-backer to Velasquez who then sailed his throw over Murphy’s head. Chisenhall rounded 3rd and the throw was…..not in time!

JNE 4 TCP 5

Game #7:

Hendricks (2-1) vs. Frias (0-0)

Jersey led 3-1 after 3 innings, and that’s where the score stayed going into the bottom of the 9th, where Hendriks entered looking for save #5. Reyes led off by drawing a free pass which caused Hendriks to pound his glove. Reyes quickly stole 2nd on the 1st pitch to Pence and the Patriots started cooking a late rally  again. Pence popped out bringing up Seager. Seager drilled one deep and off the wall scoring Reyes; and he made 2nd easily. Piscotty stared down Hendriks  with 2 outs but comes up empty as he swung right through a hittable pitch.

JNE 3 TCP 2

Series Summary
4 one-run games in the 7 game set with the Nor’easters coming out on top with 4 wins. Triple Creek (7-13) will be missing Brantley for 2 games against the incoming hot Columbus Explorers and Jersey (7-13) will head out to face a strong Clovis squad.

Game #1:
VIR 4-3
C.Santana’s 2-run double gives VIR an early 2-0 lead but CCC comes back the next inning to score 3 as V.Martinez cranks his own 2-run double. N.Walker’s RBI double ties it for VIR in the 5th and C.Santana’s walk-off homer wins it for VIR in the 9th.

VIR 1-0
The 4th shutout for VIR pitchers in the series. This time it is C,Archer with the CG 4 hitter for the victory. Once again VIR doesn’t score many runs in spite of 12 hits. It takes a 6th inning RBI double from S.Schumaker to get the only run VIR will need.
Game #7:
VIR 5-4
J.Bradley’s 2-run triple highlites a 4 run 6th and leads VIR to its 6th win of the series.
Series Summary
A somewhat shocking 6-1 series victory for VIR due to some outstanding pitching by some mediocre pitchers. After a busy off season rebuilding for the future. the Gents expect a season of very few wins. CCC just caught the Gents at the wrong time. With this series win VIR now prepares to welcome Fremont and CCC travels to Detroit.

Bethesda  Bandicoots @ Corktown  Cycle

Bethesda comes to Detroit’s historic Corktown for a series of the 6 game variety. Bethesda has high hopes to once again take the NL Eastern division, as Corktown is clearly trying to play “Spoiler” in this young season.

Bethesda wins 7-4
Odorizzi W. 3-0

Bethesda 6-2
W. Ramierz 3-0
L Koehler 2-2
Game #3:
A good pitchers duel for game 3 as DeSCLAFANI gave the Cycle 7.1 strong innings and scattering 4 hits and striking out 7. The Cycle pen finished out the shut out. W. DeSCLAFINI 2-1
L. Ross 1-2
S. Shreve (2)
