Cruz broke a 1-1 tie with an RBI 2B in the 6th. Phillips added a 2 run HR in the 7th. Long Beach tied it 4-4 in the bottom of the inning on a Holt 3 run HR. Ozuna homered in the bottom of the 8th to give the Dirt Bags a 5-4 lead. Melancon came in to start the 9th. With 1 out Byrd singled but was caught stealing. Phillips followed with a 2B that would have tied the game but he was stranded there when Hunter flew out to end the game.

Long Beach built an early 4-0 lead behind a J.D. Martinez 2 run HR but the Wheat Kings fought back. They scored 2 in the 8th on a PH HR by Kouzmanoff and a PH RBI 2B by Bloomquist. LaRoche drove in another run on a 2B in the 9th but was stranded there as Melancon picked up his 41st save in the 4-3 win.

Dickey threw a 2 hit shutout as Long Beach won 1-0. Victor Martinez homered in the 1st for the only run of the game. Liriano was the tough luck loser giving up just 3 hits in 7 innings.

The Wheat Kings held a 1-0 lead going into the bottom of the 8th. Long Beach took the lead on a J.D. Martinez 3 run blast. Ozuna added a solo HR to make the final score 4-1.

Clovis took an early 4-0 lead on HRs by Hunter, Byrd & Castro and was never threatened in the 8-5 win. Hunter and Crawford had 3 hits each to lead the Wheat Kings offense. Kohse pitched 7 innings to pick up his 17th win.

For the second game in a row Clovis jumped to an early 4-0 lead. This time Cruz had the key hit a 2 run HR. Long Beach cut it to 4-2 and had the bases loaded with 1 out in the 8th but couldn’t get a hit and lost 4-2. Casilla closed out the 9th for his 38th save.

Jimmy Rollins (23) homered for Bethesda.
