The Crushers lived up to our name in this one with 4 HRs.Colon continued his hot start to the season. He is now 3-0 with a 0.36 ERA. CCC wins 7-2.

Every Crusher gets at least one hit in an 11-4 rout.
Game #6:
Grichuk and La Stella each hit two 2Bs to lead CCC to a 5-1 win and a series sweep.
Series Summary
Napoli carried the offense in the first 3 games and Jordy Mercer carried it in the final 3 games. They combined for 5 HRs and 14 RBI.

Columbus  Explorers @ Jersey  Nor’easters
Series Preview
On a clear but cold day in Northwest New Jersey the Jersey Nor’Easters are ready for their home opener against the Columbus Explorers.
Game #1:
It was the Chris Coghlan show for the Nor’ Easters. In a nip and tuck game that went 11 innings Coghlan settled it with a walk-off 2 run homer to win for Jersey 5-3. Coghlan had 4 hits for the Nor’ Easters. Ian Desmond and Ryan Zimmerman homered for Columbus.
Game #2:
Deja vu all over again for Jersey, trailing 6-4 going into the bottom of the 9th Lucas Duda hits a 3-run 2-out homer to win for the Nor’Easters 7-6. Chris Coghlan had 3 more hits for Jersey while Ian Desmond continues to rake for Columbus with another homer and 5 more RBI’s.
Game #3:
Columbus strikes back hitting Jeff Samardzija early and often taking game 3 by a score of 6-3. Ian Desmond is simply unconscious for
Columbus hitting homer #6 for the young year and driving in 3 more runs raising his total to 17 in 10 games. Chris Coghlan had 2 more
hits for Jersey in the loss.
Game #4:
Columbus took advantage of some sloppy fielding by the Nor’ Easters to score 6 runs, 5 unearned, in the first inning off Chris Young. Jersey battled back to tie the game but Columbus scored 4 runs in the 8th and went on to win 10-6. Lucas Duda went 4-4 for Jersey but it wasn’t enough.
Game #5:
For the 3rd time in this series Jersey wins in their last at-bat. This time in the 12th inning when Brandon Barnes singled home the winning run. Lucas Duda continues his hot streak with his second consecutive 4-hit game for the Nor’ Easters. Jersey wins 5-4.
Game #6:
In the finale the Nor’ Easters hang on to win the game 4-3. No heroics in this game for either team. Adam Dunn hit a 2-run homer for Columbus in his farewell tour.
Series Summary
All in all a successful home opener for Jersey as they win 4 of 6 from Columbus.

The Crusaders played great ball & the Mobsters not so much. Final Results were Chicago takes the series 4 games to 3, but the Crusaders played much tougher than expected.

Series Preview
The rebuilding Yinzers have their home opener, feeling a little more confident after winning three of seven in their opening series, but eyeing he 7-0 Dirt Bags warily.

Long Beach 3, Iron City 1Outside of Eric Hosmer’s solo blast, the Yinzers can’t figure out R.A. Dickey’s knuckleball. He goes eight strong innings. Josh Donaldson homers for the Dirt Bags.

Long Beach 5, Iron City 3The Dirt Bags extend their opening-season winning streak to nine games. The Yinzers actually broke out early with a 3-0 lead, but Alex Colome coughed it up in the middle innings. Eric Hosmer continued his hot hitting for Iron City, going 3-for-4. Josh Donaldson homered again and Scooter Gennett drove in two to back Bud Norris.

Iron City 1, Long Beach 0Yinzer ace Lance Lynn decided to take matters into his own hands to stop the Dirt Bags’ streak. The right-hander tossed a complete-game four-hit shutout, striking out 11. Matt Shoemaker was almost up to the task, tossing seven scoreless until pinch-hitter Chris Taylor singled, pinch-runner Sam Fuld stole second and pinch-hitter Mitch Moreland eventually drove him in with a sacrifice fly.

Long Beach 7, Iron City 4After a day off, it was back to normal, with Jon Lester pitching into the ninth for the Dirt Bags. Yinzer lefty John Danks couldn’t get out of the first inning. Marcell Ozuna homered and drove in three, while Victor Martinez also went deep.

Iron City 7, Long Beach 6, 10 inningsIt appeared that the Dirt Bags were headed to win No. 11 in 12 games until backup catcher Miguel Olivo hit a three-run homer in the bottom of the ninth off of Mark Melancon to tie the game at 6. They beat Frankie Rodriguez in the bottom of the 10th for the come-from-behind victory.

Iron City 1, Long Beach 0, 13 inningsThe Yinzers once again couldn’t figure out how to hit R.A. Dickey, but this time John Danks was up to the task, making up for his awful outing earlier in the series. Danks matched Dickey with zeroes, as both threw nine shutout innings. Once again, it was Miguel Olivo who played here, with a walk-off sacrifice fly that scored Sam Fuld in the bottom of the 13th off of Jared Hughes. Lance Lynn came in and tossed three innings of relief for the win.

This was Patriots on steroids….they collect TWENTY TWO hits in this game with SIX coming in the top 1st! When the smoke finally cleared, the Pats connected for 5 solo home runs and coasted to a 14-2 victory!

Series Preview
Pittsburgh brought the Lumber to Tempe, but it appears the bullpen was traded away during the off season. On the Hot Stove front, Kemp improved his trade value while Kennedy’s value declined.
Game #1:
Tempe 6-4 – Granderson’s pinch hit three run HR put the game out of reach.
Game #2:
Tempe 3-0 – Tulo’s two run HR was all the offense Tempe needed.
Game #3:
Pittsburgh 5-0 – Kemp went deep and Miley went 8 scoreless innings before turning the ball over to their 3* grade closer….Erlin who went 1,2,3 in the 9th.
Game #4:
Tempe 10-4 – Kennedy didn’t help his trade value. Beltre, Cespedes, Gattis, and Cano all went deep.
Game #5:
Tempe 4-3 – Tempe rallied back from an early Moustakas two run HR with homeruns by Cespedes and Fielder. Granderson launched a solo in the 8th to give Tempe the lead. Holland picked up his 3rd save of the series.
Game #6:
Tempe 3-2 – Cespedes went 4-4 and hit his fourth homerun of the series in the 8th to give Tempe the lead. Holland pitched the final
1.2 innings for the win.
Series Summary
Tempe won 5 of 6 but the series could have easily been split if Pittsburgh’s pen had been able to keep the ball in park in the late innings. Cespedes should be a front runner for hitter of the week going 9 for 20 with 4 HR. Holland also made a bid for pitcher of week going 1-0 with 3 saves.

Southbend comes off a surprising 4-3 series win against Virginia last week. There are no illusions that we are that good.

Southbend takes early lead but Detroit rallies late for 6-4 win. Machado and Harper back-to-back HRs in 7th are key hits.

All Detroit’s Strasberg as Detroit wins 4-1. Britton with 2 inning save.

Yonge Street  Stalkers @ Fremont  Cannons
Series Preview
Fremont hopes it’s second home stand goes a little better than the first.
Game #1:
Yonge St. busts it open with 6 in the sixth, but Fremont comes back with a Chris Johnson grand slam in the seventh. There wouldn’t be
any more for the Cannons, as Yonge St. wins 10-6. Seth Smith goes yard twice for the visitors.
Game #2:
Mat Latos is ejected in the eighth inning down two runs after his third hit batsman, the Fremont scores four more for the 6-0 win.  Jarred Cosart goes to 1-1.
Game #3:
Jacob Turner can’t escape the first inning, and Fremont rolls to the 9-4 victory. Kennys Vargas hit his first career home run.
Game #4:
Pedro Strop blows a three-run lead in the eight by giving up four, and an error in the ninth helps Yonge St. tack on two more for the 7-4 win.
Game #5:
Mark Buehrle and the Fremont pen shut out the Stalkers 4-0. Khris Davis shows some wheels, notching his third triple of the young season.
Game #6:
A pitching duel is won in the ninth by Yonge St., 2-1. Juan Nicasio throws a complete game in the loss. Jason Rogers’s weak grounder to
second managed to score Alex L. Gonzalez for the winner.
