Cingrani is backed by 3 homers in a 4-1 CCC win.



Game #2:


CCC pitches Fiers to get in his required usage and he gets bombed.

DET wins easily 7-2.

Ervin Santana pitches 8 shutout innings in an easy 4-1 CCC win.



Game #4:


DET shows no respect for Ubaldo Jimenez. they blast 5 homers in a 15-3
laugher.

Madison Bumgarner throws a complete game for an easy 5-2 DET win.



Game #6:


Cingrani is strong again. He tosses 7-1/3 innings with 0 BB’s and 14 K’s.

But, he got a no-decision thanks to the bullpen blowing the lead and
sending it to extra innings. Domonic Brown walked to lead off the 10th.
He stole 2nd and went to 3rd on a throwing error by Saltalamacchia.
Donaldson promptly singled him in to win the game 4-3 for CCC.

Joey Votto provides the firepower with a pair of two-run HRs and five
RBIs total. Fister scatters five hits and allows only one unearned run.

Dickey continues the Quest pitching dominance as he scatters four hits
and strikes out six. Four-run fourth inning is all Camarillo needed.

The hits just keep on not coming for Motor City, as Wilson strikes out
eight and scatters three hits for Camarillo. Bautista launches another
bomb and Junior Lake contributes two RBI.

Another dominant pitching performance for the Quest, as Saunders wins a
tight one. He didn’t go all the way, but he went eight, as did the
hard-luck loser Williams, who had a no-hitter into the 6th inning. the
two starters combined to give up only seven hits. Aybar’s RBI double in
the 6th was the difference.

LP: Hunter

SV: Mujica

Classic pitchers’ duel saw starters Lohse and Morton trade zeroes all
day. Loshe went eight innings, Morton went eleven. Both left for
pinch-hitters. Votto broke it open in the top of the 12th with a
bases-loaded, two-run 2B off Tommy Hunter.

MCM 6 – CAM 5

HR: S. Perez, Trout

It took a while, but the Motor City offense finally woke up, with Mike
Trout and Salvadore Perez leading the way. After Camarillo jumped out to
a quick 3-0 lead in the top of the first, Perez launched a three-run
bomb in the home half. Camarillo pushed across two in the seventh on RBI
hits by Votto and Bautista. Trout got one back in the bottom of the
seventh with a solo shot. In the ninth, Crawford and Aybar collided on a
fly ball (Aybar injured for 9 days, Crawford for 14 days), bringing
Trout to the plate with two in scoring position. Trout scored them both
with a single for the walk-off win.

Motor City scored more runs in this game than in the previous six
combined.

Series Summary
 Camarillo takes the series, 5 games to 2.

 

The winning pitcher notched a CG in the first four games of the series,
and Saunders, Williams, Lohse, and Morton all went at least eight
innings in the last three games.

 

Joey Votto had two HRs and nine RBI in the series. Bautista had two HR
and seven RBI for Camarillo. Mujica had two saves.

 

Mike Trout and Sal Perez had four RBI each for Motor City.

Batting takes the spotlight away from pitching in this game.

Three HRs for Manhattan against Delgado, but Snappers keep up with 12
hits, 10 off Porcello.

Then Avilan gives Seager an RBI double to put Manhattan one up.

Both bullpens hold the rest of the way.

Pitching takes the spotlight again—score tied 1-1 most of the game.

Each team has 14 K’s.

In 13th inning, Doolittle allows 3 hits and Manhattan scores the winning

Great pitching again.

Manhattan held scoreless into the 9th inning.

Snappers score 1 run in the 3rd inning, but then closed down the rest of
the way.

Jose Fernandez throws 15 Ks, but Snapper staff matches him with 15 Ks
too.

Leading 1-0, Snappers lose when Kimbrel yields a 2 run HR to Freeman
bottom of 9th inning.

is shaping up to be a great series.

Murphy singles to right for the walk off win.

Ortiz drills a fastball from Loup deep into the bleachers in the 9th to
break a 2-2 tie and give the Outlaws a 3-2 series edge.

Petit again is nearly untouchable with 6 shutout innings as the Outlaws
are led by Kratz who homered and along with Crawford with 4 rbi.



Game #7:


Clovis 6 New York 5

Jansen came in looking for the easy save when he walked Castro, Rollins
picked up a hit, and with one one out the wheels really fell off as
Reyes pinch hit for the pitchers spot and caught a flat fastball and
blasted it over the right field wall for a 4 run walk off homer, Clovis’
second walk off win in the series.



Series Summary


GREAT SERIES. 5 one run games, 4 decided in the 8th or later.

New York comes out on top 4 games to 3.

Petit should be given pitcher of the week consideration; 2 GS, 2 W, 12
IP. 0 ER. 0 R, 5 H, 10 K.

Kratz and Miller both injured during the series, Kratz with 11 more and

Series Preview


Bethesda crosses the U.S. Border and heads into the Windy City of
Chicago for a 7 game series.



Game #1:


Chris Sale (4-6 3.70) picks up the win for Chicago. Six relievers (5
Itchy) help the cause, with Aroldis Chapman picking up his 19th save on
the season. James Loney is 4 for 5 with 3 RBI’s.

Game #2:


Alex Cobb (6-4 3.62) goes 9 strong for the Bandicoots in a complete
game.

Final Score: Bethesda 5 – Chicago 1



Game #3:


Yonder Alonso & Adam Dunn both hit Grand Slams, and C.C. Sabathia (2-3
3.57) picks up the win for Chicago. Chris Davis has 4 RBI for the
Bandicoots.

Game #4:


A scoreless game through 9 Innings, The Bandicoots push across a run in
the top of the 10th. The Bethesda manager allows Erasmo Ramirez to pitch
the bottom of the 10th since he has a shut-out going. After a 2-Out walk
to Dustin Pedrioa, Buster Posey stands in, and delivers. A 2-Run HR to
left field for the win!

Game #5:


Adam Wainwright (8-1 1.71) goes 8.1 innings, scattering only 5 hits.
James McDonald (0-4 5.00) goes the distance for the Bandicoots.

Game #6:


Chris Sale (5-6 3.66) & four relievers including Aroldis Chapman (Save
#20) hold the Bandicoots to 2 runs. Posey Homer’s for the 2nd straight
day, and Adam Dunn Homes as well.

Game #7:


Marco Estrada (4-2 2.02) & Jpba Chamberlin (Save #1) combine in shutting
out the Mobsters. Chris Davis solo shot in the 1st is all the scoring in
the game as the Bandicoots take the last game of the series.

Series Preview


A battle between the two worst records in the entire Mid-West Baseball
League. Traverse City momentarily passed the Southbend Lynx prior to
this series in the A.L. West Standings, at 13-45, while Southbend enters
with 12-46 record.



Game #1:


Derek Holland was in complete control, pitches a four-hit complete game
to earn only his 2nd win of the season (Improving record to 2-8, 5.08
ERA), allowing only one earned run.

Tyler Skaggs allowed 9 hits in only 3.1 innings, allowing 2 ER’s (4
runs) to get the loss, as he falls to 0-5, with a 7.94 ERA.

The DH-Jed Lowrie (SBL) went 3-for-5, 2B, RBI & run; Yan Gomes was the
star for the Crusaders going 2-for-4 with an RBI on two singles.

LYNX 4, CRUSADERS 1



Game #2:


David Phelps was pitching 5 shutout innings for Traverse City until all
hell broke loose in the top of the 6th in which the Southbend Lynx would
score 12 runs during the inning — which included a two-run HR by the
Lynx’ Jonny Gomes.

Jonny Gomes finished going 2-for-4, HR, 2 RBI & 3 runs, with a BB.

David Phelps falls to 1-9 with a 6.59 ERA, allowing 8 hits, 7 ER/9 runs
& 6 walks, while striking out only two in 5.1 innings.

Scott Diamond earns the win (3-5, 4.61), with 6 K’s & BB, 6 H in 6
innings.

Traverse City walks 9 batters, and now stands alone in the cellar.

LYNX 14, CRUSADERS 4



Game #3:


Jonathan Niese (SBL) kept escaping trouble allowing 11 hits, yet only 2
runs in 6.2 innings against the Crusaders.

Mark Trumbo & Mike Morse each homered for the Lynx, while Craig Gentry &
Marlon Byrd each earned 3 hits for Traverse City.

Travis Wood falls to 2-8, 4.89 ERA with 6 innings of work in the loss.

J.J. Putz picks up his 6th save for Southbend.

LYNX 6, CRUSADERS 2



Game #4:


Mark Buehrle pitches a good game for the Crusaders, but the bullpen
would blow the game after T.C. had 4-0 lead through first five innings.

Mark Trumbo’s two-run HR during the top of the 7th tied the game up 4-4.

Trumbo goes 3-for-5, including 3 RBI & the home run.

Angel Pagan hit a solo HR for T.C.

Eric Stults for the Lynx picks up his first win, after entering the game
with a 0-10 record

LYNX 8, CRUSADERS 4



Game #5:

The Crusaders got things started in the right direction with a three-run
triple by Todd Frazier in the first that set up a 5-run inning.
Angel Pagan would add to the damage with a three-run HR in the bottom of

the 3rd, that capped off another 5-run inning, giving T.C. a 10-1 early
lead after three innings.The early lead gave Yovani Gallardo enough comfort room to be in the
zone again the Lynx. Gallardo pitches a complete game, allowing nine
hits, one run & 3 walks, while striking out nine.Pagan went 3-for-5, 4 RBI & run, while Drew Stubbs also had a big game,
going 3-for-4, 2B, RBI, 2 runs & a steal.Roth falls to 0-4 for the Lynx with a 6.65 ERA.CRUSADERS 11, LYNX 1
 Game #6:
Derek Holland once again for the Lynx owned the Crusaders, pitching
another complete game, this one a three-hit shutout.
Holland’s bid for a no-hitter was broke up by an Angel Pagan single in

the bottom of the 7th with no outs. Holland improves to 3-8, dropping
his ERA some more to 4.60.Tyler Skaggs also pitches a complete game, allowing no earned runs, the
two runs for the Lynx were on errors by the Crusaders. Skaggs also only
allowed 6 hits, while striking out 9 (walking 3).Jed Lowrie went 2-for-4 for Lynx, while Yan Gomes had a double for the
Crusaders, improving his batting average to .301 for the season.LYNX 2, CRUSADERS 0
Game #7: Scott Diamond pitches a shutout of the Crusaders, that’s back-to-back
shutouts for Southbend pitching, as Diamond & Holland have scratched up
the Crusaders pretty good this series. Mark Trumbo & Michael Morse once again hits home runs, as David Phelps
falls to 1-10 with a 6.60 ERA for Traverse City. 

The Crusaders have not scored in 21 innings now.

 

LYNX 5, CRUSADERS 0

 

Series Summary
Crusaders were hoping for a better showing, but gave up some leads,
while Derek Holland, Scott Diamond, Mark Trumbo & Michael Morse put the
claws to the Crusaders — leaving Traverse City fans with brown paper
bags on their heads with the name “Tragic City” written in bold black
letters. Traverse City Crusaders are now 4-23 at home.

Jersey rallied back from a four run deficit to win game six and prevent
a Tempe sweep. Iwakuma barely missed his second no hitter in a row
giving up one hit with two outs in the 8th. Tulo was the hitter of the
series with four homeruns and ten RBIs.

Series Summary



Division-leading Pittsburgh comes to division bottom-feeders Fremont.
The Cannons play tough, but ultimately drop the series 4-3.

Roseville Thorns @ Iron City Yinzers



Series Preview


New visting Roseville Thorn manager Pat Vukelich exchanges his 1st
official lineup card today in Iron City. The Yinzers start the series 16
games back and Roseville is within ear shot 6 back and 5 games in the
black.



Game #1:


Masterson (5-5) vs Westbrook (1-6)

Roseville hangs a 4 spot in the 2nd and follows that up with 3 off of
Frasor in the 6th. Thorn bats sprinkle a couple more runs in on 11 hits
to the Yinzers 5. Hosmer drives in the only run for the home squad.
Encarnacion hits his 20th bomb on the year as the anxious to perform for
new management visitors rack up 3 HRs and 3 doubles.

M.Gonzalez (5-2) vs Hellickson (2-6)

Cozart turns on an inside fastball for a 2 run shot in the 5th and that
would be all the Thorns needed. The Yinzers out hit their opponent today
4 to 3 but stranded them all. Hellickson pitched 8 strong innings
allowing only 1 walk and striking out 8. Janssen goes 1.1 for his 9th
save of the year.

18 singles in today’s contest as the wind howled in from center field.
Thorn bats continue to find timely holes in the defense while Iron City
can’t buy one and strand 10.

Matsuzaka (1-0) vs Maholm (2-4)
The Yinzers look for their 1st win of the series after a day off.

Roseville scores early again and has yet to allow Iron City to lead in
the series. Two 9th inning runs left the home town crowd wanting just a
bit more as the Yinzers come up short.In a freak dugout accident, Aoki and Matsuzaka were injured as the
helmet holder fell off the wall. Aoki suffered a high sprain as he tried
to dodge it and will miss 4 games but Matsuzaka took it square to the
face and needed stitches around his right eye and will miss 18.Lobaton and Bradley go deep for Roseville and Hosmer tallies 2 doubles
and a three bagger.

Pettitte (4-7) vs Lynn (7-3)Iron City score two early off of a Rios homerun but Pierzynski matches
him in the top of the 3rd. Roseville sends two more to the seats and
hangs 3 spots in the 5th and 7th for the victory. Pierzynski has a
double, 2 HRs and 6 RBIs on the day.IRN 3 RVT 8

Masterson (6-5) vs. Westbrook (1-7)The home town crowd is sparse on a clear Monday and Roseville plays
contest number Sixty-Six of the year. Westbrook is rocked early and
often “scattering” 13 base runners and 9 runs over 3 and 2/3. Frasor
took over with runners-a-plenty toting his own gas can. He was heard
saying as he left the mound, after allowing 7 runs, “You called that a
fire? Now this, THIS is a FIRE!”. The visitors left Iron City on a high
note with a 19 hit -16 run affair.Encarnacion drives in 6 to bring his total to 48 on the year and
